What are colored diamonds?

Diamonds are nothing but crystalline form of carbon produced due to definite temperature and pressure change within various layers of the earth. Colorless diamonds are free of any additional minerals except for carbon. The color of the diamond depends on the additional element, which is present except for the carbon. There is another possible method through which a diamond gains color, which is radiation absorption. How can you measure the quality of colored diamonds?

The quality of a diamond is measures on its clarity, cut, carat weight and color. The clarity, cut and carat weight is the same as for the colorless diamonds, only the color in fancy colored diamonds is given value based on the specific hue, intensity and consistency.

If in any fancy colored diamonds the color is deep, then it would fetch higher value than the rest. Side by side, if it shines brightly and with a consistent bold color irrespective of its gradient it looks exquisite. Among all different colors yellow and pink is the most effective. However, it is also seen that for fancy colored diamonds the flaws are more perceptible.

A small stone, which has a rich clarity and color is valuable than a large diamond with an average hue. Because of its price, many people prefer to go for the affordable alternatives as the loose diamonds.
